2008 team captain... "It is an incredible honor to have been elected captain, and it truly means a lot that my teammates considered me worthy of such a position. I hope to be able to follow up the great work Christina [Guerland] did this year as captain. She did an amazing job providing leadership. My main priority has always been, and will always be, the team. I will do my best at upholding the responsibilities that come with such an honor. I am excited to see us expand on our potential."
2007: Second on the team in home runs (4), third in RBI (22) and tied for third in hits (34)... Named the Ivy League Player of the Week after batting .615 with two home runs and 13 RBI in an eight-game stretch during Yale's spring break trip to Florida... Went 4-for-4 with six RBI against Florida A&M, one of eight multi-hit games... Opened the season with an eight-game hitting streak... Recipient of the Coaches Award at the post-season banquet.
2006: Improved her offensive statistics in virtually every category in her sophomore year... Led the Ivy League in triples (4) and tied for fourth in runs scored (30)... Her six home runs and 23 RBI were both third on the team, and she tied for fourth in batting average (.281)... Top performance came in the second game of a doubleheader with Providence when she hit two home runs, tripled and knocked in four in a 9-5 victory... Finished the year with 12 multi-hit games... Longest hitting streak of the season was five games.
2005: Made an immediate impact during her rookie season... Second on the team in home runs (2) and fourth in hits (23) and walks (9)... First career home run came against Detroit Mercy... Hit a pinch-hit, walk-off, three-run homer to beat Sacred Heart.
Before Yale: An all-county selection at Aquinas High School... Led the team in home runs, RBI and extra base hits... Played for Big League, a travel team that went to Mexico and won the Latin American championship. The team also played teams from Europe and Canada. In 2004, Big League made it to the championship game of the World Series, which was televised on ESPN2.
Personal: Resides in Ezra Stiles College... Daughter of Roberto and Lourdes Torres.
Notes: A member of the Puerto Rico national team. She played in the Pan American Championships in Guatemala in November of 2005 and in the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2007... Also has participated in the Canada Cup and the Central American Games.
