CHARLESTON, S.C. - Yale successfully started off the spring season with a fourth-place finish at the Charleston Women's Intersection regatta hosted by the College of Charleston March 1st and 2nd. The Bulldogs, who are currently ranked first in the nation, scored 149 points over the 13 races.
The Bulldogs' performance was highlighted by the third-place finish in B Division by sophomore skipper Sarah Lihan and freshmen crew Blair Belling. Lihan and Belling placed in the top five in nine of the 13 races, including a win in race 11. The Bulldogs scored 65 points over the 13 races and improved on the fourth-place finish in B Division last year.
In A Division, Kate Hagemann and Elizabeth Brim placed fifth with an 84-point performance. The Bulldogs placed in the top five in four races, including a win in race five. The fifth-place finish improves upon the Bulldog performance of seventh in 2007.
The Bulldogs, who have not begun to practice yet due to severe weather, are well positioned to continue their strong fall campaign that was topped off by a win at the Atlantic Coast Championships. The team is back in action at the Navy Women's Intersectional on March 8th and 9th, an event they took fifth at last year.
