Yale Field Hockey Endowment Gift Form

• The need for an endowment is extremely important to the long-term success of Field Hockey. Such funds can cover costs associated with equipment and training and offset a team's lodging, meals, and travel expenses as well as general annual support. Providing a reliable and predictable income stream, the Endowment Campaign will enable Yale Field Hockey to provide the environment for our daughters that rivals any competing university.

• Yale Athletics holds strongly to its conviction that broad athletic participation across the student body is vital to the success of Yale graduates in the future. Our daughters came to Yale to pursue a truly well-rounded educational experience through their studies and Field Hockey. In this way, they are preparing for the leadership roles they will shoulder after college and graduate school. In every region of the working world--from nonprofits and hospitals to Wall Street, from law firms and corporate giants to social service agencies and small businesses--employers seek young women who will understand commitment, meet challenges, believe in teamwork, and invest themselves in their goals.

• In looking at how Yale Field Hockey can integrate our needs into Yale's five-year fundraising campaign of "Yale Tomorrow", it seems evident that creating the program's first endowment will help better meet the needs of current and future Field Hockey student-athletes. Our goal is to raise $350,000 by October 2007 and announce this at the 35th Anniversary dinner in New Haven. Our overall Yale Tomorrow campaign goal is to "endow" the Field Hockey program ($2 million) as well as the Head Coach position ($1.5 million).

Impact of Giving

• The new Field Hockey endowment supplements the Athletic Department budget and helps cover the cost of expenses in the areas of coach recruiting, prospect visits, out-of-region travel, equipment, communications, and other annual team expenses. This fund will provide our coach with the resources necessary to attract the best and the brightest to come to Yale
