         <description><![CDATA[Over 115 Track and Field and Cross Country alumni and friends gathered at the Yale Club of New York City on Friday, February 22, for the annual celebration of track and field and cross country at Yale. In what proved to be a truly spectacular evening for this storied program, the 2008 dinner commemorated the 40th anniversary of the 1968 men's Heptagonal Championship team. As part of the festivities, many of the members of the '68 team were in attendance. All were mesmerized by the three speakers who represented the team and offered their unique insights about the group and the interactions of its members and coaches throughout that championship season.]]></description>

To be eligible, student-athletes had to be starters or key reserves on an officially recognized varsity team with 3.0 or better cumulative grade point averages. Each institution nominated five men and women from its eligible student-athletes.]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[This weekend, the Bulldogs obtained another solid top-10 finish at the NCAA Northeast regional held at Franklin Park, bouncing back from a fall to 14th-place in the most recent regional rankings. Yale placed 8th out of 34 teams with 268 points, winning the tie-breaker against Stony Brook (also with 268 points) by virtue of a higher finish for the sixth Bulldog runner. The team was once again led by the effort of junior Jake Gallagher, who placed 19th with a time of 30:26 over the 10,000 meter course.]]></description>

The men will be tested against more than 30 teams over the 10,000-meter course at Franklin Park when the gun goes off at 2:30pm. This regional meet will help determine which teams and individuals qualify for the NCAA National Championships later this month.]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[Yale joined many of the top teams in the nation this weekend at the Pre-National meet hosted by Indiana State at the Lavern Gibson Championship Course, the site of the 2007 NCAA Championships next month. Yale raced in the White Race, the second of two equally-seeded varsity men's races, and placed 35th with 913 points. No. 21 UTEP won the White Race team title in a huge upset over No. 2 Colorado, scoring 129 points to Colorado's 155. Junior Jake Gallagher, coming off two individual wins this season, was the top Yale finisher in the race.]]></description>
