Stone was sidelined by an injury last fall but was still influential as a leader. He joined the roster in his freshman year, but did not appear in a game. As a sophomore, he played an integral role on a Yale defense that posted five shutouts. At Polytechnic High School, Stone was a three-time league and team most valuable player. He also was an all-league selection for each of his four years. In addition, he was named the CIF Player of the Year. As a freshman he helped lead Polytechnic to the CIF championship.
