STRATHCLYDE, Scotland - Jamie Redman, a rising senior at Yale, won a bronze medal as part of the U.S. eight at the 2007 World Rowing Under-23 Championships over the weekend. Three Yale men's rowers also competed. Charlie Cole was a member of the U.S. men's eight that placed fourth, missing the medal stand by just 0.35 seconds. Peter Reiser and Alex Rothmeier were part of the men's lightweight four that finished fifth in the B final.

In the women's eight, the U.S. pushed up into second place behind Belarus in the last quarter of the race, but couldn't hold off the charge of the German crew as it inched ahead in the last few strokes to win silver. Belarus was first in 6:15.20. Germany placed second in 6:15.43 and the U.S. clocked a 6:17.85.

"We have learned a lot and developed into really good rowers over the camp," Redman told U.S. Rowing following the race.

In the men's eight, Estonia won gold with a time of 5:33.90. Germany (5:34.29) was second followed by Australia (5:34.73).
