Personal: In March of 2007, Braswell spent 16 days in Tanzania with a Lawrenceville science class. The class interacted and lived with the Masai warriors, donated materials and resources to help build a school for children in Arusha and took daily safaris to see wildlife in the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Conservation area.
"I selected Yale over other prestigious universities because while on my official visit it struck me that it was the best fit," Braswell said. "The residential college system that Yale has is very similar to the House system at Lawrenceville, and I feel that it not only adds to the learning experiences but also helps develop life-long relationships. Furthermore, Coach Jones came to visit my family at Lawrenceville and showed us how successful Yale basketball players have been in their chosen endeavors. Needless to say, it would be an honor to join the list of Yale basketball alumni who are doing well."
Quoting Coach Jones: "Porter brings strength, quickness and athleticism to our backcourt."
