NEW HAVEN, Conn.--The Yale baseball team has been on the road for a long time. Two weeks in fact. Now the Bulldogs can finally see the finish line, as they embark upon the final series of their road trip, a three-game set at Radford. The Bulldogs and Highlanders will play a single game on Friday at 2:30 p.m., and a doubleheader starting at 12 p.m. on Saturday.
The Bulldogs (5-11) split a two-game series at Presbyterian, posting a 7-3 win on Tuesday before dropping Thursday's game 16-11. Ryan Lavarnway belted two home runs on Thursday to become Yale's all-time leader with 28 career long balls. He leads the team with eight homers, 19 RBIs, 14 runs and a .377 batting average. Josh Cox has a team-high 24 hits and six doubles, and is hitting .348. Brandon Josselyn earned Ivy League Pitcher of the Week honors after tossing a one-run, two-hit complete game in a 5-1 win over Wofford on Sunday. Josselyn leads the team with a 3.86 ERA.
Radford (9-8) has won two of its last three, including a 13-8 victory over East Tennessee State on Tuesday. Reggie Keen leads the team with a .438 batting average and 28 hits. Alex Gregory has three home runs and 22 RBIs, and has scored 17 runs. Abram Williams, Adam Hoyt and Kyle Starr lead the pitching staff with two wins apiece. Williams has a 2.35 ERA in eight relief appearances and has two saves. Hoyt has made four starts and has an ERA of 2.66. Eric Evans leads the staff with 22 strikekouts.
Live stats of all three games this weekend will be available on Radford's official website, www.ruhighlanders.com. After the Radford series, Yale visits Connecticut next Wednesday before opening Ivy play on the road next weekend.
