GRAD-PRO
WINTER VOLLEYBALL - LEAGUE INFORMATION '07
Welcome to the
2007 Grad-Pro Winter Volleyball League. This year there are divisions for
Corecreational and Recreational teams. Captains please read the schedule
carefully -- check for correct team name, department, captain name and phone.
If an 'X' or 'TR' appears under "Deposit" then your team has paid the entry
fee. If not then you must pay the fee tonight or before the season starts,
otherwise, your team is dropped from the league.
All games are
scheduled in Room H on the 5th floor. Competitive and Corecreational
teams play a six-game schedule. All contests are schedules for best-of-three
games and the reserved time is 60 minutes. Playoff information appears on
the schedule. Please check playoff dates and have your team prepared to play
on the day and time listed.
Be advised no
games are postponed due to snow, ice or inclement weather. However, if
a winter storm hits New Haven and road conditions are dangerous and captains
decide not to play the game, then, please call your opposing captain as early
as possible to cancel the game and call the Intramural Office (432-8670) or
Lobby Desk (432-1444) after 10:15 AM to inform the Weekend Attendant that
the teams will not appear for the contest -- the game is canceled with no
registration fee jeopardy, it is not rescheduled and it does not impact in
the final standings.
The courts and
times for the volleyball season have been reserved and cannot be altered.
So, consider the regular season schedules 'set-in-stone'. Even if you and
your opponent agree to reschedule your game and play at a different time,
both teams will be assessed the forfeit fee regardless of whether you informed
this office in advance. You have made a commitment to participate in the
league so please ensure that your team is at the court, warmed-up and ready
to play at the scheduled starting time. The late policy and forfeit policy
are explained in detail in the rules. Please read them and use them when
necessary!
All of your players must be listed on the
team's registration form. Using unlisted players is illegal and if an opponent
successfully protests against such a player, then your team will forfeit the
game, be expelled from the league and lose it's registration
deposit. Important notes: All players must be Yale affiliated and be PWG
members (all students are members) or guests of PWG members (guests
must pay the daily gym entry fee but must be Yale affiliated); and, a player
may play and be listed on the roster of only one team in each league. Players
may be added to any roster by calling 432-2487 no later than the Friday before
the scheduled game. (If you call after 5:00
PM please leave a voice mail message and speak slowly and
clearly so we can get most of the information), or by FAXING the information
to 432-2495. Remember to tell us the team name,
sport & league and new players name and gender.
Space is a real
problem during the winter season with grad and undergrad intramural sports,
club teams, physical education classes and varsity teams all seeking facilities.
Thus, the policy of no reserved practice time for intramural teams is strictly
observed. If practice time is desired then check the room schedule outside
Room H for available "open rec" time and
plan to practice then.
The standards
and nets must be setup prior to the start of play and any tension in the nets
should be relaxed at the conclusion of the contest (if necessary locate the
PWG Weekend Supervisor in the lobby). Often the poles and nets are moved
out of the room and place outside the emergency exit door.
Throughout the
season captains are responsible to circle the name of the winning team and
to record the score on the schedules posted on the walls outside Room H or
on the bulletin board outside the Intramural Office. Have a great season!
By the way, if you had a great experience or a terrible
time please let us know.
