The
Dwyer Sports Medicine Center, located on the first floor in
the Payne Whitney Gymnasium, is the primary rehabilitation facility
for Yale Athletics. The room is also the main training room for
winter sports using the Payne Whitney Gymnasium. The Dwyer Center
is open Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. to 12 noon for morning treatments,
and from 1:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. (or until last scheduled practice ends).
Weekend hours is according to team practice and competition schedules.
The facility was renovated this past summer
and includes a square foot therapy area with seven treatment tables,
a large office workspace and locker room for the staff, and shelved
storage for supplies. The therapy area has various electrotherapy
devices, a hydrotherapy and mouthguard fabrication area, and a team
taping and preparation area.
For cardiovascular fitness, the room is supplied with isokinetic
bicycles, an upper body ergometer, stairmaster, and treadmill.
Rehabilitative strength training is accomplished with the use
of an nk table, multi axial ankle exerciser, kin-com isokinetic
machine, and a multi hip and cable column machine. The varsity
strength and training facility on the fourth floor is also used by the
injured athlete. There is also free space available for proprioception
exercises utilizing swedish and weighted balls, a fitter, and
baps boards.
The Smilow Training Room
is open according to team practice and competition schedules for sports
operating out of the Smilow Field Center, Coxe Cage, and Cullman Tennis
Center. The approximate hours are Monday - Friday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.,
and 2 hours prior to competitions, unless otherwise announced.
The facility has seven taping tables, seven treatment tables and four
storage areas. There is also a doctors office and portable x-ray facility
open during the fall season.
The Ingalls Rink Training Rooms operate according
to the Men's and Women's Ice Hockey practice times. Hours will be determined
by the Athletic Trainers for those teams.
Modified Training Room hours will be posted during finals weeks,
over holiday breaks, and during the summer.
Athletic Medicine
Clinic
The Athletic Medicine Clinic is a
walk-in clinic at the Yale Health Service (17 Hillhouse Ave), conducted
by our team physician- Dr. Barry Goldberg . Clinic hours are Monday
- Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., at UHSC, level S. All Yale intercollegiate
athletes may utilize this service for injury or illness. The clinic
is run on a first come-first serve basis, with appointments available.
Athletes may also utilize Molly Meyer, Nurse Practitioner, for illnesses
or other medical conditions. She is located on the 2nd floor of UHSC
and is available Monday - Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
