Welcome
to the Payne Whitney Gymnasium Eighth Floor and the Women's Gymnastic's
Studio. This floor is home to the Yale Women's Gymnastic's
Team.
The Gymnastics studio has all
of the standard Olympic apparatus, including a carpeted
spring
floor exercise mat.The Eigth floor's unique appearance is due to the
Rose windows as viewed in the photo on the left. All competitions
are held in the amphitheater, which seats 1,500 for gymnastics. Since
the 1973-74 season, a year after women's sports became a part of Yale
Athletics, women's gymnastics has been the most successful male or
female program.
During
the past 20 years, the Eli's have gone 137-36 overall in dual meets
and 57-4 against Ivy League opponents. Yale has captured nine Ivy
league titles, has twice finished among the country's top-10 teams
and has sent numerous gymnasts to the NCAA Championships.
