Girls Sport Clinics
-5 Different Clinics throughout the academic year, approximately 70
girls per clinic.
-Clinics conducted by Yale coaches and athletes of non-traditional sports
(Squash, Crew, etc).
2.NYPP
(New Haven Board of Education/Yale/PAL/Parks and Recreation) Basketball
League
-League runs from January until March followed by an awards banquet
after the championship game.
-Approximately 125 boys and girls from the New Haven area participate
in the league.
3.Fall
Youth Day
-Youth Day in September @ Yale Football Game
- Clinics conducted for approximately 300 children (transported round-trip
to the Bowl) of New Haven free of charge followed by a BBQ and free
admission to the football game.
- Yale Youth Fair/Shoreline Football game in the Bowl.
4.
Spring Yale Olympic Youth Day
- Date picked in April for children of New Haven to participate in clinics
followed by a BBQ and free admission to all of the athletic events going
on that day out at the Bowl.
- All children in the clinics are bussed out to the Bowl.
5. School Visits/Hospital Visits
- School/Hospital visits take place throughout the academic year as
Yale Coaches and Athletes visit and speak with various elementary and
middle schools around New Haven along with Yale New Haven Hospital.
6.
Big Brother/Big Sister
- Mentoring program conducted by Yale Athletes for children of New Haven.
7.
Various Sports Clinics
- Yale Team's put on clinics throughout the year for the local
Youth of New Haven.
Summer
1.
National Youth Sports Program (NYSP)
- Free 5-week summer program sponsored by the NCAA at Yale for approximately
350 children of New Haven. Children receive breakfast and a hot lunch
as well as participate in educational and sport activities. Children
are transported round-trip to the campus for the program.
2. Community
Rowing Program
- Free program for the youth of greater New Haven to learn the sport
of rowing.
- Runs during the winter in the indoor tanks of PWG and during the spring
and summer at the spectacular Gilder Boathouse.
