Director-
Carlos Pinela '82
Carlos Pinela has directed the Multi Sports Camp for fifteen years. He
is currently the Director of Intramural Sports at Yale and coaches middle
school soccer, basketball and lacrosse at Hamden Hall Country Day School.
Carlos and his wife, Christine, live in Hamden with their three children,
Sona, 10, Simon, 9, and Natalie, 7. Staff
counselors will be selected from area high schools and from colleges near
and far. We welcome your children to the Yale Bulldog Sports Camp for
a fun, exciting, educational, and memorable week.
Program Information
The program's home base is the Payne Whitney Gymnasium, one of the world's
largest sports facilities. The camp is designed to promote individual
development and to guide youngsters through exciting sports and recreational
activities. Planned indoor sports include basketball, swimming, ping-pong,
volleyball, squash, gymnastics, yoga and rowing. Additionally, campers
are transported twice a week to Yale's athletic fields for participation
in soccer, baseball, tennis, golf, field hockey, lacrosse, kickball, and
tug of war. On most Wednesdays the group travels to the Outdoor Education
Center in East Lyme, CT. This trip provides ample opportunities for swimming,
fishing and other water activities. Additional exciting day trips may
be scheduled. Lunch will be provided 5 days a week.
Check-In
& Pick-Up
Registration will be held Monday mornings @ 8:30am in the lobby of the
Payne Whitney Gymnasium. Subsequently, campers should report every morning
by 8:30am to the lobby of the gym. Camp staff will be on hand outside
PWG to supervise the drop-off procedure. Parents are requested not to
leave youngsters prior to 8:15am. If drop-off occurs past 8:45am please
walk your child into the gymnasium and to the Lanman Center. Campers will
be available for pick-up beginning 4:20pm in front of PWG. Staff will
supervise the pick-up procedure.
